We hear about various forms of pollution on a daily basis. Air pollution can have serious implications on our health and the environment, which is why it is important to minimalize the risk and prevent it from happening. Industrial factories are notorious for producing primary air pollutants that are emitted to the air, such as sulphur-dioxide and carbon-monoxide and introducing ventilation systems can not only reduce the air pollution created by them, but can also ensure safe indoor air quality for their workers.

THE BRIEF
Orsted, the global leader in green energy and waste management, purchased the Renescience Northwich Plant in 2017 – with the plant itself processing 120,000 tonnes of waste per year. The demands of Orsted’s success started to demote efficiency and onsite workers realised that the existing HVAC system was no longer suitable to cope with environmental requirements.
The prevention of odour emissions from the site and spreading to surrounding areas was inadequate, and Orsted decision-makers required a trusted team to make urgent improvements.
THE SOLUTION
The reactor vessel odour abatement system included a chemical scrubber, carbon absorber, activated carbon, copper impregnated carbon, chemical dosing units, run and standby fan, blowdown tank, control panel, all the wiring, control system, actuated dampers, pumps, all the associated pipework, monitoring equipment and complete with the ductwork system and 15m stack to comply with the environmental requirements.
THE OUTCOME
Our team worked closely with Orsted and designed a fully-fledged, supportive solution that would solve their environmental and odour issues.
We commissioned a new HVAC System and Scrubber System able to withstand the demands of the workload and ensure comfortability for onsite workers and surrounding neighbours.
After commissioning the above in Spring 2019, the Airmatic team carried out training to all of the onsite Orsted staff.
